Superb, thanks for these thoughts. I think there is reason to believe many physicalists really don’t understand the objections. It’s like talking about different layers of the onion. Perhaps it takes some kind of personal transcendental experience. There is so much to this. When I read this piece I saw clearly how true the old truth is that the more we know, the more we realize how little we know. In a sense, people knew more about the universe 500 years ago than today, because back then the universe was a pretty, moving dome with a God behind it. Easy peasy. Another recent reflection concerns the uniqueness of every human and her personality traits. Even siblings are very dissimilar. If we were randomly assembled flesh robots, we would arguably be a lot more alike.
